For most people a PAL course costs $50 but for me it would cost $330 due to having to take two days off work.

Has anyone done the Online course? I have heard that the exam needs to be done in person but did you feel that you missed out on anything?

Seems to be no day time courses in my area.

if you feel up to it, you can challange the exams, I studied on my own and challanged both PAL and RPAL with success.
you can get the PAL and RPAL books from any instructor.

the video's they show in the course are on youtube (6 parts)

Don, you don't need a PAL when you are a Ninja...sadly I am not a Ninja anymore.

I got lots of time now but when I went to sign up for the course the school was on fire. I'll have to go back this week and register.

just download the course materials/books for CFSC and CRFSC , study, and go challenge the tests when its convenient for you. then the cost of the course is 0

not refering to just the trader rating, 2200 posts, this topic has been covered it's hard to get how he missed it with his heavy forum activity, also you replied to a really old thread I think he got the information he was after.

Not true. Some areas make you pay the same amount as taking the course, others make you pay but at a reduced price.

I thought that the exam fee was set at $40, but I see that the case for Ontario, not Nova Scotia. Then again, I see the CRFSC was only $50 through NSCC - even if that didn't include the exam, you would be $50 cheaper than the same course in ON. I am assuming the cost is/was the same for the CFSC. Looks like Nova Scotia Community College is no longer the official CFSC & CRFSC provider, and a new one has not been chosen. I never appreciated how easy it is to find an instructor in Ontario through FSESO!

I guess this is another requirement of the Firearms Act that is applied hodgepodge Nation-wide.

.. +1 That's what we did and took our time, but took the exam for the practical as wife never handled a gun.

if you have never handled a gun before you will fail the practical part of the exam.

I don't know, you can get a lot out of those CFSC and CRFSC videos on Youtube. I had never handled a handgun of any kind before, but received 100% on the practical when I challenged the CRFSC exam. I just watched the videos several times, and did my best not to do anything unsafe during the exam.

Everyone is different though, and handling a firearm before the exam would make it MUCH easier.
