Fellas I have posted quite a few questions lately but there are a few questions I have had to ask as I have not purchased a Restricted firearm until now . I realize that the current situation with the upcoming freeze has made transferring firearms lengthly .What I would like to know is after you have ordered online filled in all of the information required including you RPAL information and give a credit card number

What are the next steps that the dealer initiates and any next steps tgat occur before you get your firearm
Thank You !

From here you just need to sit back, relax and wait awhile for everything to be done by the dealer.

My understanding is the business will submit a transfer request online through the rcmp business portal which can take anywhere from a few days to a month to approve depending on your province. With the years worth of firearms sold in the last 2 weeks you may be waiting longer than normal.

Once approved the business will notify you and ship it to you.

Thank you for the reply ! Relax you say Hmmm…..LOL!

My transfer in early April didn't get approved for 4wks and another week or so in shipping. I'd say 7 wks in all. Ontario. I ordered hours before the announcement and the transfer is in the cfos hands now. Hopefully in que before all the ordered after the speech

Once you buy online the dealer takes care of the rest, in the past I’ve followed up with the cfo on the phone and they have always completed the transfer right then and there. With their current call volume they only confirmed my new purchase was in the queue but they wouldn’t complete it right then, they confirmed my address etc on file.

Once they complete the transfer they will email you a notice of transfer, your dealer will have access to this info and you can either go pick it up or they mail it to you. Your registration papers will be mailed out to you separately.

It's definitely worth calling your CFO to ask about the status of dealer-initiated transfers. I've always found (including currently) that my transfers notifications are issued very soon thereafter.

Leavenworth - Do you have the BC CFO extension?

One more , maybe ? If your a resident of B.C. does the out of province retailer initiate the transfer buy contacting the B.C. Firearms office ?
Thank You !
