Buying myself a tikka in 6.5 creedmore and also a Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44, VMR-1 MOA.
I plan on working my way up to 500 yards at home then possibly more if local range opens up to new members again.
Are their any decent YouTube videos on long range shooting and getting the most accuracy from my scope?
I live in a farmed area so wind on most days will be affecting longer range shots for me. Thanks

For guys like us, unless we have restricted there is no point in having a range membership: NDRG's longest is 100 yard while Kingston's longest is 200 yards. I have a range membership because I have restricted class, but I have fields and ponds over which I currently can shoot 750yards. (I expect I could clear a lane through the brush and find 1km)

As to answering your question: Keith Cunningham and Linda Miller produced a few books on long distance shooting one of which is entitled The Wind book for Rifle Shooters

Well darn, i was a member in Kingston years ago and remember talk of a possible 1000 yard being built, guess they never went ahead with it or had other issues along the way. Thanks.

You don't need much to start off.
I'd say a good 100yds/M zero, a reliable chronograph, a good ballistic app, and a Bluetooth kestrel you can link your app with.
And you will see that 500M is VERY easy to work up to without guidance or instruction.

Some youtube vids always a plus to at least understand what's going on.

Just brought my 30-06 woods master with cheap bausch and lomb 1.5x4 scope outback for the first time in two years, I'm putting bullets through the same hole at 100 yards. I'm sure this isn't impressive for you hardcore optics guys but I'm quite impressed with myself after only shooting bow and skeet for the last while.
Im very excited for my new rifle and scope to come in this week, I'll be on youtube watching suggested videos each evening after work

I haven't been to the Kingston range in years... I just double checked their webpage and it states they have 400yard rifle range: I'm surprised they fit that on 100acres considering that the benches are not close to the road and they claim there is lots of forest on the premises. Obviously that makes my memory of the range incorrect, but it still doesn't offer a distance for rifle shooting we don't already have.
