These police trade ins were prohibs with hi cap mags. Authorities did not want to reclassify them to restricteds for commercial resale so they got new restricted frames

Why would a G35 be prohibited? Maybe the magazines but not the gun itself. Confused!

It wouldn't be. If they were Canadian police frames it would be illegal to transfer them from a public agency to private hands. Strip the parts, install new frames not registered to the agency and sell away. The mags would be prohibited if not pinned.

Just a guess.
