I'm in Ontario and have a shiny new restricted (my first) but my club is not offering the ATT course for several months. I am getting tired of leaping around the house with it yelling "pew pew"; it's scaring the dog. Is it possible to get a STATT to go to the range? (This is not against the rules of my club.)

I tried this while waiting for my LTATT. CFO said NO to a temp ATT just to go to the range. Maybe others have had luck because of events/competitions.

Now that I have my my LTATT, I easily got a temp ATT to borrow my brothers gun and take it to my range and faxed to me. Go figure.

I'm in a similar situation, and I can corroborate. My LTATT has been issued to my club, so I now just need to wait for my club to decide its time to give it to me. *sigh*

I called the CFO to see if I could get a STATT to another local range (not my home range). The CFO said "sure", but the request would need to come from the range/club. So i called the range, and they only issue the requests for events, not to just go shootin'.

They say patience is a virtue :)

Thanks for the replies. I managed to get my fix today; I'm in Vegas right now and shot a bunch of prohibited/restricted guns. The guy behind the counter was an expat Aussie and we commiserated about the insane gun laws in our countries of origin.

American Shooters on S. Arville; highly recommended if you ever make it down there. One range officer, Seth, gave me very friendly corrections to my technique that I really appreciated.

I tried to get this to bring to the range and they wouldnt give me a STATT, they said I had to wait for my LTATT to arrive first

Again, why are the clubs involved with anything to do with YOUR ATT / STATT?!
WHY would the FO say it has to come from a club?! Why are they (THE FO) allowed to shirk their duty and responsibilities?

In Ontario the request for LTATT must come from your club. You can't request a LTATT on your own.

just went thru the exact same issue.

Find out if your club has sent in your ATT request. If the CFO has it they can process in a couple of days.

MY problem was that it took my club a month to send it in and another month for the club to get the ATT to me, the CFO only took about 5-7 days to actually approve, print and mail out the ATT.

The fact that OUR clubs have to ask for OUR ATT"S is rediculous. The ATT should come automatically with an RPAL.

Wrong. there should be no ATT's at all...

and just t o rub in my labertan ways I got my STATT in less than half an hour wheni bought my 1st restricted and my LTATT took about 3 hours. lol

You need to take a COURSE to get an ATT?

What do they teach you? How to use a trigger lock and a gun case?:bsFlag:

and how to take the most direct route to the range, including running over small children. :p

Thanks all you guys in bantario, every time i read your posts it makes me happier and happier to be born and raised albertan.
