ontario bear baiting regulations

Where can I find regulations concerning bear baiting in ontario on crown land. Specifically, I want to know when bait can be placed and needs to be removed by. If I could find these in writing, I would look for a loophole regarding the bait being related to bear hunting.

Basically, I am wanting to encourage more bears to move into an area (undeveloped, isolated crown land and not a hazard to residents) and away from another area where they are becoming a nuisance to residents.

I'm not looking to hunt bear in ontario at this time, just bait them. Myself and several other residents would be involved in this effort but there are issues with local hippies wanting to snuggle up to the things.

not sure if ontario has a rule similar to nova scotia.we can set up a bait site for photo purposes and keep it going year round just have to have a permit from the dnr.only for photography no hunting within 400 meters of site.

good question, I havent seen anything Hunting regulations about this. If you want to be sure it would be worth a phone call to the MNR. Personally I bait before the season opens to start generating traffic......Im pretty sure others do too.

Yep - I start early July and the largest outfitter here starts mid July - for a mid August opener.

Not much more than stated above. Been hunting bears for years, and I don't see a problem with baiting for your purpose. As long as you don't put a shell or an arrow through and bears before open season, you should be able to bait as much as you want!
