Thanks to Big Redd (aka Little Pink) and the gang at Accuracy Plus, I entered the world of bowhunting this year. Tons of deer here, and lots of tags available.

First week was awesome, something I am chalking up to a lot of scouting and a lot of beginners luck. Killed a nice doe on the opening Monday morning, and then a big bodied, 9 point buck on Friday night. What a rush, and I am totally addicted now. Both deer were shot at less than 20 yards. Doe dropped in her tracks. Buck went about 75 yards.

Did a ton of scouting and had 2 trailcams set up, that made it almost too easy. Some really good pics. There are still a whack of does and atleast 4 other bucks that we are seeing on a regular basis.

Excalibur Phoenix, with a Varizone scope, 2216 bolts and Wasp Boss 3 blade broadheads.

The tenderloins were quickly consumed and I'm picking up the steaks, chops, burg and sausage this week.

Good luck.

Waterfowler they had 10 gauge steel on sale at Shooters Choice in Waterloo for $20 ( may be sold out), they usually have 10 gauge on sale for that price once a year. It's nice to hear that the extra work you put into hunting paid off. Most of the time you hear, no deer seen and maybe now we now why. Your hooked now and it's to late to walk away.:runaway:

I have the exact same setup Waterfowler. I've only been out evenings so far. Seen 12 deer altogether, 2 bucks and 6 does and 4 fawns. The bucks were small 4,5 pointers. I was actually 20 feet away from the 5 point, he ran out in front of me and stopped 20 feet infront of me on the path, broadside. Had the crossbow on my shoulder and when i went to move it he ran off. He came out into the bean field an hour later and walked right up to me and stopped 30 yards away, broadside lol. I know there is atleast a BIG 9 point out there so i didnt shoot.

Good job! Your hooked for sure.

After 6 days in stand all I have to show is some wet clothes and an uncut tag.

The minimum I saw was 12 deer in one day with 23 being the max.

We need some frost to kill the tasty treats they are feeding on to puch them into some travell routes..............then maybe I will get one. They got ot too easy right now. Feed at every turn.

I'm using the same setup as well. Its a very nice setup.
Sadly I have not been having the same luck as you tho.
Been out about 6 times, seen one doe but too far to shoot.
I'll give'r a go next week now that its getting colder!
