Prison guards in Ontario that patrol the perimeters of the Kingston pens carry firearms. Pistols and Colt 9mm AR. My buddy says the 9mm Colt is effective enough just to knock'em off the fence if they try to get over them. I have seen the firearms in person in his patrol van at work but don't recall what the pistol was, may have been a S&W M&P.
