Ontario Controlled Deer Hunt

YAH 92B controlled hunt! But, I'm confused. I submitted my application for antler less deer draw and it says that I am successful, however there is a line beside it that says "bows Only". Does this mean that I cant shoot a doe during the controlled hunt that I have been successfully drawn for?

The way I understand it the antlerless draw does not apply to the controlled hunt.

For the controlled hunt, you will get a card that allows you to hunt, and on that card it states what you are allowed to hunt.

Still a bit confused. I asked a similar question. I was successful in the controlled hunt draw. Once I buy my game tag/seal, am I allowed to bow hunt outside of the controlled hunt week I applied for? Or am I ONLY allowed to hunt for the 1 week that I applied for. I just want to know whether or not I can bow hunt this year.

buying a deer tag allows you to shoot a buck anywhere in ontario with a bow while an antlerless tag allows you to use a bow to shoot an antlerless deer in that specific WMU only.

then you apply for the controlled tag which permits you to use a firearm during the controlled hunt in a specific WMU.


the initial deer tag you bought dictates whether you can shoot a buck or doe during the controlled hunt.

Best advice is call the minstry and get complete clarification. Also need to remember during the controlled your controlled hunt tag indicates what you can shoot. You may have tag that may be good for a buck or doe during bow season and good for a buck in Ontario but your control may be different and may be doe only. When in doubt call the minstry.
 
For the bow season your tag is good for a buck only unless you applied for the antlerless draw in your WMU.

For the controlled hunt you get a separate card that allows you to hunt during the specific hunt week. That tag will specify if you can shoot an antlerless deer. If it says nothing you can only shoot a buck, but it will say antlered and antlerless if you can shoot either.

2 years ago mine said nothing, last year it said antlered or antlerless. I have never seen one that says antlerless only.
