So after years of rumours, debate, etc etc someone has finally captured a cougar on a trail camera on Manitoulin Island.

MNR confirm it's a cougar, and he gets $500 from the local paper who has been investigating cougar claims for the past... decade probably.

Now how long until the conspiracy theories about how the MNR (who are so budget strapped that they often can't afford gas in their trucks to patrol) secretly released all the cougars for some strange reason?

SW Ont had cougar sightings dating back to the early 1990's. I'm not surprised about it, because cougars are migrating animals. They probably pass their way through SW Ont from Michigan heading to northern Ont, Quebec or NY State, or cutting west to the rockies in Alberta and BC. I guess the question is how many cougars migrate full circle, and how many years apart before they start?

A friend of mine who is a reliable fellow and not one to embellish stories or make things up claims to have seen one a couple weeks ago on the shoulder of hwy 17 just outside Kenora. I believe him, he would know what he was looking at. I saw my first one ever the day before his sighting as I was headed to work in Grande Cache, AB. Truly amazing sight to see.

I believe him. I live about 100 miles south of Kenora. We have a few around here.

My wife and I saw one cross hwy 37 about 10 minutes north of Bellville four years ago. I guessed it to be about 80lb with decidedly cat like movement.

A fella that lives in Cloyne, near the hunt camp has seen a couple of them on his golf course, there must be a few in the area.
