Ontario deer are beginning to move

saw a nice one onthe way back from picking up the wifey this AM..in picton ont area...was right onthe road curb..we stopped and watched the nice eight pointer, about 180 to 190 lbs for a good two min..
looks as fine as fine could get with a deer..

I was in the woods hunting grouse today and although I did not see any deer there was a ton of fresh tracks. I'll be chasing deer this Sunday with a fellow CGNer

The moose rut is well under way in my area. I have heard bulls calling since sept 22nd.

Not enough deer up here to really gauge anything. I'm heading south on friday for a week of bow hunting so heres hoping.

I was out scouting after duck hunting on Sunday. I didn't see any scrapes or rubs yet but I did see some deer when I was out for bear a few weeks ago.

Out today for the bow opener, slow morning with a south wind. Big moon still out so I thought the deer might be still moving around but all I saw was a flock of Turkey's right under the stand.
Bucks have been rubbing for about a month and even the spikes are out of velvet now, only starting to see the beginnings of scrapes.
Tonights hunt was a little more action packed with more Turkey, a coyote howling down the ridge from my stand, two 6 pt bucks sparring (just for fun) about 100yds away. Passed on a 2 and 1/2 year old 8 pt. just at dark. Still with the 20 degree weather and warm south wind. Can't wait for it to cool down.

No ruts or scraps up this way yet.
Saw lots a deer & a couple nice bucks, but man are some of the fawns small this year, saw a few the last couple weeks still spotted !

Their may be a reason for that... triplets!
With the deer having an easy time of it the last few winters, and this spring, some still had fat in their guts, I think you're seeing triplets.
Coyotes may cut that down some, as they seem to be on the rise in the northern part of their range. Just a personal observation on the 'yotes.
