Ontario deer hunters.

Sounds like you have no idea what deer numbers are like down here is southern Ontario.
I do my part and have shot two coyotes this month.i trap beaver coon coyotes and spend almost everyday in the woods and fields. Just because you don't like the idea of two different tags one for gun and one for bows.dosnt mean it's a bad idea.i also do some guiding for spring turkey hunting.so I do know what are deer population can handle.

The only think you come up with is the the deer herd can't handle the two tag system. You going to have to better then that.i know what the deer numbers have been like over the last 35 years .

Do you want to keep it that way or do you want extra harvests?........ I thought you said this wasn't about more deer?...... make up your mind..... based on your posts, you clearly want to harvest more deer...

No matter how many tags you can buy the doe tags are still by draw
So how would this hurt the over all population.i can still harvest more deer this year my wife and daughter still have archery for tags good till the end of the year.

Dutch, I'm intimately familiar with deer populations in 90B, and the rest of southern Ontario.

Wanna take a guess at who flies the MNR and EC around southern Ontario for wildlife counts?

I'm sure you don't need to be told that... well, maybe you do... That one man's anecdotal experience does not trump a body of scientists working to establish a thriving population of healthy deer. I spend a lot of time with these hard working scientists, and forgive me if I trust their judgement, over that of some guy on the internet who claims to be a... a turkey guide? Seriously? Who hires a guide for a friggen turkey? Whatever. To each their own.

Anyway, so correct me if I'm wrong, but all this back and forth about bow tags etc... What you really meant to say in the original post was "Hey I don't think the mnr is dolling out an appropriate number of deer tags each year." Right? Cuz that's what it boils down to isn't it? That you think additional/separate bow tags should a available, and the mnr obviously doesn't.

So, of course, your wife and/or daughter will accompany you when you harvest these 2 deer to fill their tags...or is this another thing about the system you want to change?

You can now get one tag. You want to get two tags. How is this not about being able to harvest more deer? If more deer are not being harvested, but some people are getting two tags, that must mean that some other people don't get tags at all.

Sorry, you are simply not describing or explaining this very well. And since you are attempting to change the system that as already in place, it is you who will have to "do better" in selling this idea.

Well, that's just terrific...now I can add egg nog to the list of drinks that I have had squirting out my nose! :)

Please fill us in on the last time the MNR did any flying in southern Ontario to count deer.lol.and there are many folks that go with guides for turkey....

I to would be very interested when deer were counted in 92/93. I would wager not in the last 10 or more years. This past year a count was requested in Middlesex, fee $12,000 MNR response "Sorry we are broke". When i am able to lay hands on the controlled hunt numbers for this year, which incidentally the MNR seems to want to hang on to(2nd request in Friday and informed those numbers are not available, hunts are over but no numbers, ya right), I plan on exposing the fact they greatly increased hunter numbers in 92/93 without appropriate data. Money grab plain and simple.
