I was told last weekend that the Ontario MNR was thinking of changing the licencing ways for the deer tags. They are thing of having applications for both buck's and doe's in certain areas. This as I was told is due to people just taking bucks and no doe's.I don't know if there's any truth in this but the guy that told me has a good friend that works for the MNR.

What they need to do is stop charging hunters for additional tags! We're doing them the service of controlling the deer populations and they profit from us paying for it. How about a program that issues each hunter an anterless validation tag with every license purchased for all deer seasons in that area of application FREE. Or here's one better....send a coupon for free butchering for any anterless deer harvested with the tag. The way I see it, A deer license should be for whatever season is open in that area...not limited to archery, gun or muzzle loader.

hell our deer area is still only 47% doe draw:mad:so we are up the creek for deer if noone gets an anterless tag and all we see are does

I believe all that additional tags in my area are antlerless only, archery only. Plugged three extras last year, damn that excaliber works great. Anyways, even if they had a, buy one get one free, or half cost, that would make me happy, and the farmers as well. We have a huge population of deer in WMU 92, swat them away like flies off a bloated raccoon roadkill. We were allowed 6 extras here last year. Still eating what I had from last years hunt, and just took 22 more pounds for Pepperettes :D.

I bow hunt in area 88 and all extra tags(6) are doe only. This is also an area with no gun hunt. A break on the tags would be great, but I have a feeling I have a better chance of craping out diamonds tomorrow morning then getting a deal on tags.

my area used to have 6 extra tags, now were down to 2. Areas 64A and 64B used to have 8000 extra tags available, now down to around 1500.

They're definately giving out less tags in the south, but the northern WMU's are practically a free-for-all for tags, up to 7 per person, and a 2 month rifle season.

BTW, 3 guys in our group work for the MNR, and I haven't heard anything about changes yet.
