Ontario Hunting licence question

I am looking at getting my hunting licence this year and not sure I understand.. Do I need the outdoors card before I take the course?

Nope. you need to take the course first as proof of eligibility to hunt and get a Hunters outdoor card.


You need the hunting outdoors card to buy licences (small game, deer, moose) for the game you want to hunt.

Are outdoors card renewals still available with the pre-printed 3 yr tags?

I went online to check if I need to renew but it didn't come up as an option. My renewal is due end of this year.

In the past I've renewed my card with a 3 yr small game tag just in case I want to go crow or coyote hunting

If you renew the card and get the 3 year option ( fishing and/or hunting) it will come printed on the card. Only single year options are the separate yellow tags. I think it is too soon for the renewal option to be available. I think it will show up around October on your available purchase options.

Yes, you can renew with the 3 year tags embossed on the card.
