i was trying to make this a poll but i goofed up:rolleyes:
any ways...i was washing out all my rags tonight....most are in the orange colour....
then i got thinking of all the cammo stuff....
so my poll was on... what do you buy hunting rags in????
cammo or orange?..
as i have a connection to get tons of orange..i kind of lean that way;)
and those of you dont have to wear orange..go eat one:p ;)

I wear all camouflage - hunting or military. Sometimes I get like grey stuff, wool milsurp or sorts, but on top I got an orange vest. My hat is reversible camo / camo-with-orang-tip. I was considering buying the orange parka - is just simple and I don't have to bother with the vest ... but I like to look half decent after hours....

One decisive argument is that in case of paranoia, I do not have to lose my warm clothing to blend in. What else would one do is he/she was hunting and a bullet whizzed by? :runaway:

ya know ...thats one of the best arguements ive heard on this..
the main reason for this thread...is to find out if the new load of rag,s i buy will be in orange or cammo(with a cheap orangy thing on top of it )..

I bow hunt whenever i can't hunt with a gun. So I go with camo and wear and orange vest overtop, and an orange hat. This way I only need one set of clothes to worry about.

I use the Remington Scent Lock stuff when the temp is not too low. And then some warmer stuff from Crappy Tire when it's below +3c. But the thing that really makes the difference in my opinion is using the product U-V Block and washing the rags in a scent free and brightener free detergent.

I bought a U-V light and tried it out on my camo. I highly recommend this. Deer and moose have different spectrums of light sensitvity and making sure you don't "glow" to them is quite important. This also goes for your orange vests as well.

It's pretty important - so don't go using the ordinary detergents with brighteners anymore.

good luck,

CB

I'f I'm walking, I prefer to be all orange. I meet a lot of hunters when walking.
If I'm on stand, I like the minimum coverage.
Deer see motion very well. they don't see Orange .... BUT..... they probably perceive it as very bright white. If for example your arms and hands are very bright white, they will be a lot easier for adeer to spot moving, than the same in camo, or green.
Hunting on my own property, as you do Foggy, I'd probably wear the minimum all the time. The others are people you know and trust, and you each know where the other is supposed to be.
I scared the crap out of a fellow hunter that was trying to be smart and sneak up behind me one time. I heard a noise, and thinking it was a moose, did a spin with my rifle at the ready. Never pointed it at him or anything, but it's the last time he will pull that stunt. Last time he aproached me, he whistled first. Safety first, at all times.
