I am taking the Hunters ed course with my brother in law this month. When we go hunting for Geese, is it ok if we both have the right stamps on the license if he borrows a shotgun from me to hunt with? He doesnt have a PAL. I think its legal as long as hes right beside me right? But is it still legal if theres 2 guns and we are both shooting? Any idea? I just wanted to confirm its ok.

Where the heck does this "9 meters" come from.
And yes, you will be legal if you are hunting together.
He can't have his own gun, technically. He can share one with you, but you can carry more than one firearm yourself, as long as only one is loaded at a time...Confused yet?

BTW when I get the course done, I already have an outdoors card for fishing, I get a temporary print out, that I can then use to buy the small games licence online right? So I can use it as a temporary permit until I get mailed a new outdoors card which will have my fishing permit and small games permit on it? I also need a tag licence for the geese right?

"...have legal powers to arrest..." CO's have always had powers of arrest. A CO is an LEO.
"...He can share one with you..." That's for 12 to 15 year old Apprentice hunters. Doesn't apply to two licenced, adult hunters.
Your good as long as your 18 or older and your brother-in-law is under your direct and immediate surpervision. Has nothing to do with the Hunting Regs. It's covered by the FA. Read the 'Exceptions' box.

"...need a tag licence for the geese..." You'll both need a Mirgartory Bird licence for geese. You get that at the Post Office. "$8.50 for the Hunting Permit plus $8.50 for the Habitat Stamp. The Habitat Stamp must be affixed to the Hunting Permit in order to make the Permit valid."

so even though its legal for him to borrow the gun he cant even get a Hunters outdoor card even if hes taken the course unless hes already taken the Gun safety course for the PAL as well? Is this correct?

yup thats how it is,you have to provide proof of your pal course to the hunters ed teacher or your h1.
there is a guy down aylmer way who does the pal and hunters ed in one weekend if your brother in law is interested, jim countryman, he is on the ohep website as an instructor. his course is in two weeks.

Also after you pass your hunting course, you will have to go into the MNR office for the first time only. After that you can get whatever you need @ CDN Tire.
