Ontario non-resident small game?

Have a buddy from the US I want to bring up to hunt ruffies. What's involved in getting him a licence. Literature implies we just have to go a store that sells licences and get him an outdoors card and small game tag.

I've not had any experience with this, but from the regulations the hunting side of this sounds about as you described, at least if you are in Ontario. Download the regs and read page 20 and 21. The license fees will be more for him than what we are used to paying.

The firearms side is probably more complicated. If he brings his own gun, it had better be something that would be non-restricted. Make sure he understands that and that he must declare everything he brings. I sometimes watch that customs reality show and they're always nailing americans for trying to bring in restricted or prohibited stuff and/or not declaring all their firearms and ammo. If you're going to loan him a gun then he will have to be under your supervision. Best call the mounties to find out exactly what that means and maybe to get info on him bringing his own

Thanks, it reads like he can just buy the license stuff here if he has one from his home state.

The firearms are easy. Just had a bunch of US shooters come up here for a match.
