Hi guys, I'm heading up to my friends cottage. They saw they are like 20 minutes from some large forested areas and about 40 minutes away from algonquin park.

I can't remember but how far do I have to be from a major road so that I can legally Plink?

Thanks for your help and time.

Sincerely,
Kevin H.

Just go to one of the many gravel pits up there apply all the safety rules even check with the OPP as they will be the ones investigating any noise complaints
Been there done that !

Be careful in cottage country. Lots of city people prepared to call the OPP if they hear shots. Make sure there are no bylaws. Incidentally, if you are on private property without the owners consent, there could be problems.

You need to know if it is crown land.... gravel pits are usually privately owned! You also need to know if there are any bylaws against shooting or excessive noise.
And lastly you need to be sure of your backstop and that there is no one else in the area.
