I am looking to do some Coyote or wolf hunting this year and am wondering if there are any areas near renfrew county or durham region that are good places to start hunting

Finding a place to go predator hunting is much like ground hog hunting. Go politely ask some local farmers if you can hunt on their land. Don't go on Sunday and don't take a firearm. If the farmer says no, thank him and leave. It wouldn't be rude or bad to ask if he knows any place that might let you though.
Remember that there is a season for wolves, but not for coyotes in Ontario. The townships around Algonquin are closed for hunting both too. Go here and read the Wolf/coyote rules. http://publicdocs.mnr.gov.on.ca/View.asp?Document_ID=10735&Attachment_ID=20632

Lots of Coyotes in Durham region. The farm areas north of New Castle have been having problems with them. Coyote love to eat goats, sheep and chickens.

Most farmers will give you permission, just be polite and if they say no, thank them for their time. Don't show up in camo or fatigues.

I have a deal with a few farmers near Brighton. They call me to clear out any Coyote problems and in return, they let me hunt for Grouse when the season opens. And of course I share what ever birds I harvest.
