Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't find a thread using the search function. As of official websites, little information as well..

I'm a Ontario resident with family and friends who own property in Quebec, including large acreage in isolated parts. If it's relevant, I will be in the Pontiac /

Im interested in going hunting this upcoming season in La Belle Province, problem is I can't find very accurate information. What do I need to hunt in quebec other then my fire arms license ? How do I aquire it? Any other notes I need to know?

Thank you

To obtain a hunting licence for non-residents, the applicant must be a non-resident and at least 12 years of age

This is the only info for non residents I see. This is very limiting. So I can walk into canadian tire to buy my license or so I require a prior hunting course in Ontario ?

if u have a ont res hunting lic u should be able to get your non res lic for whatever game you plan to hunt, hunt in the Pontiac and find there is a great abundance of game

All you need to do go to any License seller IE:Canadian tire in old Hull Quebec now Gatineau, most sporting goods stores sell Quebec hunting and fishing permits. deer non resident about $290 small game is about $85, non residents can not hunt Bear unless with a outfiter

They have differing systems depending where you hunt. In the Zecs you are assigned an area within the Zec and if memory serves you were allocated a tag? But its been a long while since friends I knew hunted there explained it to me so my memory is a bit dim. Some areas were over the counter tags at one time.

what about moose hunting? Do they have a draw system?

There is no draw if you plan on hunting public land or with an outfitter, SEPAQ draw if for Quebec resident only and it's already done so ... ZEC are different, you need to pay some fees to be a member then you can hunt on the ZEC.

I'm an Ontario resident and own a cottage in the Pontiac. (And I hunt there)

I purchased my license's at the local store in Portage Du Fort. (And my beer!!)

All you need is your Ontario Hunting License. Once you purchase your Quebec license, you'll get a "Client Card" that will fast track your future permit purchases.

Easy peasy!
