I called in to do the buyers side of my first restricted transfer today. The guy got all my info then told me that he would be sending it to Ontario for final approval. Will the Ontario CFO contact the seller or myself when it has been approved and he can send me the gun?

:confused:

When the cfo approves the transfer ,they will send you letter confirming transfer and also letter to seller, after two week s you can call them and hope it landed on a quicker desk other then that, not much you can do! they can also fax you info once approved. 2-4 weeks on private transfer.

I went in and paid for my m&p @ the ammosource and ryan said they hired someone new at the ontario cfo and he said that he just did a restricted transfer and it took 4 days , lets hope it stays that way .

It took 3 weeks for my last one from a dealer. I know it was approved only because I called them a couple of times. Neither myself, nor the dealer has yet to receive any paperwork. The dealer had to call the CFO and request a copy of the paperwork by fax after I informed them that it had indeed finally been approved. Our tax dollars at work...I've never quite understood this Canadian principle of paying someone for the privilege of giving you a hard time.

They are fast for exporting restricteds. I'm bought a handgun from an Ont. seller and the Ont. CFO approved it immediately, (and it was the next day for the Alberta CFO to approve the import).
I sold a handgun to an Ont. buyer and the Alberta CFO approved it immediately and it took over 6 weeks for Ont. CFO to approve the import.

I was talking to one of the guys at Shooters Choice in Waterloo Ont. about this, he was under the impression that restricted transfers from a dealer to an individual were taking longer than non dealer transfers.:confused::confused:

Why when you buy restricted from a dealer it is always way faster??????

what is up with this please expalin!

Thats not true restricted transfer from dealer way quicker 2 days to 2 weeks,
private 2-4 weeks approx.

I have three restricted transfers that might be a good test of wait times...

1. Person to person, Ontario to Ontario, took two weeks
2. Person to person, Alberta to Ontario, three days in - still pending.
3. Business to person, Local, one day in - still pending.
