Ontario Service Rifle Championship 2005

It was a blast, how many here can describe the sound a round makes when it flies above you ??   I was there for the saturday, and it ran like clock work, ~50 shooters, being in the butt trench patching and scoring was pretty cool, shooting was awsome, I never had the oportunuity to shoot 300m with an AR. (500m was on Sunday..)

Great opportunuity to test out the gear and shooting skills. ACOG's are great but a good shooter it don't make, most were mil personel but a few civies like me shot the game, some guys were freakin shooting 2-3 inch groups out at 300m using C7's, Elcan's and ball ammo

Thanks Hungry for getting me and Sniper1 there :D :D

Well,, the weather was fine for Saturday,, it was a rainy and cold morning on the Sunday. It rained heavy at times.

Anyway,, it was a pretty good shoot with some stellar performances put on by a bunch of shooters. 51 attended,, 22 shot a score of over 500,, of which 6 had scores of over 550.

It was a great weekend,, and marks the end of the service conditions shooting in Ontario for this year.

Congrats to Hungry and the others who ran an excellent shoot.

Edited to add:
PS: It must have been Sniper1 who I was squadded with on Saturday. Nice rifle!

She is know as: the "Axe of Thor"

I've put an ELCAN instead of the Aimpoint clone for the SR match.
The Elcan was ok, but it ain't mine. I borrowed it from my military unit.
Hungry and MWO Atkins convinced me that a Leupold 3-9x mildot is THE scope for these SR shoots.
The other thing she needs is a trigger job or a drop-in NM 2-stage trigger group.

Congratulations are in order to Shelldrake ! He was on fzcken fire !! I've never seen him blast a 50.5V at the A face on the Match 9 Deliberate target ! Holy Krap was he shooting well.

I believe it had to be that well priced unit (30 Fd Arty) mess dinner they attended on Sat evening.

The 30 Fd Arty "A" and "B" teams cleaned up the Team prizes ! All of them shot amazingly well.....

So..... Shelldrake, how much CASH Prize money did you take home ?

The ditches on Alpha Range at Connaught posed quite a problem. I was thankful that I 'm wearing my (new this year) Danner Stryker boots for the ankle support necessary to cross these obstacles !

Hey you Frenchie fellas.... Thanks for coming out and enjoying our (Tim, Keith, Tom, and MY) wonderfully run matches. It's so nice to have you guys come out with yer black rifles and make some noise at Connaught !

Cheers all,
Barney

Longshot: Tim K has got the stats sheets and I did not snag them before I left Connaught for home.

Maybe Shelldrake has a copy of the stats. Let's see if he can provide enlightenment.

Cheers,
Barney

Some thoughts,,

It is always nice to see the ladies come out and compete. I have always believed that they compete as equals with the men and no special recognition or special prizes need to be awarded base on ###.

That being said,, MBdr J. Dufresne and L. Miller are ladies,, and are exceptional marksmen who put on an impressive performance on this shoot. Both are superb role models for those who wish to embark an an pursuit of excellence in the service rifle discipline.
