Is there an Ontario Sporting Clays Assocication? I'm trying to find out if there's any organized SC in Ontario that has a shoot list and maybe a provincial champs. My son is very competive in trap and has really showed an interest in SC the last year. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks
Tim

Not that I'm aware of. Formerly, the CSCA - Canadian Sorting Clays Association was formed in Quebec as an affiliate of an American counterpart, also now defunct. The NSCA does not recognize us up here.

For the past several years the Canadian Sporting Clays Championship ( and the Canadian F.I.T.A.S.C Championhips, as well) have been held in the summer at Oshawa.

:( CSCA was originaly set up by Paul Laporte and Ricky Longtin. It was NOT in any way affiliated with ANY US org! They had most of the Canadian Championships at La Roue du Roy. Once some Ontario clubs joined, it alternated between Uxbridge and La Roue. There were also clubs in Quebec and in BC. It then the Championship went to Galt and Oshawa. The Ruffed Grouse guy from Hamilton had some visions of grandeur and was handed over the association. CSCA demise was very rapid after that.

Sporting Clays Canada was started several years ago to allow the FITASC shooter to compete in events around the world under the Canadian flag and not under the skirt of the American org. It also has a mandate to promote Sporting Clays and Compak. The new president is wellknown shooter, Pierre Dubois. For the first time ever, 13 Canadians shot under the Canadian flag at the World FITASC at Minnesota Horse & Hunt. The group did very well winning a number of class prizes. The website is :
www.sportingclayscanada.com
Oshawa Skeet is affiliated to SCC. Any club shooting FITASC Parcours de Chasse, Compak or non-Olympic bunker, must be an affiliate of SCC, since SCC is the only recognised and licensed Federation by FITASC. FITASC is the only International Non-Olympic governing body of clay shooting. You may visit their site at:
www.fitasc.com
Parcours de Chasse is "La Creme de la Creme" of clay shooting and the closest to hunting sans the live quarry!

Best regards, the original founder,
Henry;)

Henry:

Is "Sporting Clays Canada's" / web-site actually functional ???

Doesn't seem to be any real information available ... like News, Members, Clubs, a Calendar of (supposedly sanctioned) Events, Shoot Results or the like ???

A "mandate' some pictures & an application form ... is that it ???

Couldn't find any mention of thje Canadian Association or any F.I.T.A.S.C. sanctioned event(s) in Canada whatsoever on the
F.I.T.A.S.C. link you provided !

:( I don't run the outfit. There are now new people that have to learn the ropes. There are clubs that must be willing to be associated with a Canadian National organisation and not a regional or none at all. Unfortunately most Canadians are very regional: the West does not like the East, Ontario does not like Quebec, the Maritimes feel isolated, one group feels that they have the best targets and nobody has any better, another group thinks that tough (or stupid) targets are no good. It goes on and on. Sometimes the truth hirts but it is not to ostrasise. We are more devided than any other place on this earth! We all shoot clays. So why not put a little effort to make us visible to our elected officials and the rest of the shooting world. The 13 guys that put the effort this summer, showed that with our short shooting season, we still can put a fair showing in front of what the World has to offer.

We are a very big country with very long distances. We should be able to have a cross-country Compak competition this winter. It can be a league shoot over 4 months. Compak rules are very easy (not much different than 5-stand) and any club with a skeet field and 3 extra manual or electric machines can run. One shoots 50 targets every month. $5 extra goes into the pot per 50 targets plus $1 goes to SCC as a sanctioning fee. NSCA class system is used as per SCC regs. Money is devided by class from entries from across Canada. The more shooters and entries the more cash! Extra booby prizes by random selection (I will find the sponsors). Clubs though, must be a member of SCC.

What a deal!:dancingbanana: Now, let's see if there are any takers!

Best regards,
Henry;)

Agreed ... no argument at all !

Just wondered if there wasn't something wrong with the web-site.

Yet one more good start. I sincerely trust it will flourish.
Ontario ( at least a few of the individuals here ) made a mess of it the last time, despite what I assume were good intentions.
