So I got the email from Canada Ammo regarding my NP-29 telling me that they've started the transfer with the CFC on Friday.

I'm anxious about my purchase and I'm just wondering if anyone has recent experience with transfer times from retailers and could give me an estimate of the wait I'm gonna have to deal with.

Also, is there any way to potentially speed up the transfer?

Hey,

I ordered an M&P9mm from a store here in Ottawa, it took almost 4 weeks for the transfer and STATT to go through. I hate to say it, but I would expect that to be about the same for you. I have also been told by my club that LTATT's in Ontario are sitting at the 2 to 3 month point.

As far as I know there is no way to speed it up. Some people will say that you can call the CFO office and inquire, but I can not tell if thats true or not.

Good luck and enjoy your new toy.

Lady from CFC told me transfers are taking 10-15 business days recently. First handgun purchase, how long do ATTs take to process?

I'm not sure about ATT's yet, but I know that the transfer for my NP-29 (first gun purchase) took less than a day. Got the email from CanadaAmmo on Friday about the transfer being started, called the CFC Monday to check the status and they said it was approved on Friday.

That gets me excited :D. Got myself a TT-33 (first restricted) and can't wait to add it to my Soviet WWII milsurps.

Mind you this was a private sale, so maybe longer wait times?

Is there a way to check online like PALs or must call in?

I did a personal transfer last month, took 10 working days to receive the transfer/ATT in the mail. It is a little faster with a retailer due to fax machines... I've had transfers done "next day" but that was a couple years ago. It seems that transfers in Ontario have been really slow lately.

I'm sure people went on a spending spree due to the fall of the LGR and also purchased some restricted's to go with them.

Can you get the ATT ready before it is transferred? Also, which entry do I choose to check transfer?

Send a polite fax asking for an update on the status of your transfer. Be sure to include your e-mail address. I've had paperwork emailed (pdf) to me hours after they received my fax. Just make sure you kiss a lot of a$$.

They won't issue an ATT for a pistol that hasn't been transferred to you. Are you picking it up? The retailer should take care of the ATT for you. Are you having it shipped? No ATT required as long as you're home to receive the parcel.

I just did one out of ont and it only took 5 days. But maybe that was because it was leaving the province and they wanted it out lol.
