It seems I'm reading more and more how wild animals are overpopulated and becomming a problem.
In my area south of Rottawa, the coyote population has gone berserk. There's people getting their pets taken on a regular basis, and residents of the area are furious that their little cats and dogs are getting snatched.
Well boo-f'ing-hoo.
Firstly, your little dog is too small, leave it in the house in the evening and night time. Same with your cat.
The development probably has something to do with it all, and the city is forever encrouching on their turf. So, they gotta move and find another residence and more food. Also, winter is coming so food is becomming more scarce.
I think a big problem is the government. They've put so much red-tape around everything, half of the older hunters gave it up.....too much BS.
We are also constantly losing hunting grounds due to expansion, bi-laws and bunny huggers moving out from the city and putting an ixnay on hunting around their places.
Probably the very same people that ##### about little TuTu getting eaten by the big-bad-wolf!
There's moose almost running through downtown Ottawa. There's bears in my neighbours back yard. Their foxes/skunks/coyotees in MY backyard! And you have to almost kick the turkeys and deer out of the way!!
For me, a hunter....well...it's simply a wonderful time. LOTS of game. For other residents, weeeelllll not so much.
I sent a message to our councillor this morning inquiring if they're interested in putting a bounty on these nuisance yotes. If so, heck, I might be talked into some "population control" via superior firepower. I'll drag their dead carcass' to them, and they can hand me a cheque. Other than that....sorry about your luck, as I sit back, have a beer and watch little Fifi get taken away by some hungry predators.
Do I feel bad? Not in the least. The government and tree-huggers can reap what they sow. This is YOUR mess now. Good luck to you.
If you need me, I'll be sitting in my tree stand watching the yotes walk by whilst I await my trophy buck!
