What kind of shooting do you want to do? Hunting, paper, clay birds, long range, high Look-Cool-Factor, etc.
You won't get a little information here. You'll be overwhelmed with information. Do some independant research (like buying one of those 1" thick Guns Annual books at the sporting goods store), and form a few opinions. Right now it is less important that you find the perfect gun, but one that answers most of your short list.

I have been doing some research since I sent out my PAL application 5 or so weeks ago. I mostly just want a gun for some clay shooting for now. But apart from that I just want to obtain the skills and knowledge in handling a gun effectively.
