OO Buck thru a Rifled Barrel

not likely to have any effect on the barrel. but it would cause the shot to spin a bit and your pattern would be crap

Won't hurt the barrel at all, but you'll probably be better off throwing the hull at whatever you're shooting at. I found the shot would generally fly wild at even close range. Part of the reason why I went with a smoothbore even though I really loved the accuracy of a rifled barrel.... just lost the benefits of the 12ga's multiple kinds of ammo.

Lead balls in a plastic shotcup won't hurt the rifling. Even lead balls with NO shotcup won't hurt the rifling. It may shave off lots of lead, but it won't hurt the rifling.

And yeah, the spin imparted to the shot/buckshot means the effective accurate range is about 5 yards.

Tried it with 3.5" 000 buck. At 5 yards you might scare a charging bear cuz u sure ain't gonna put lead in him. I aimed at a 45 gallon metal burn barrel at 7 yards. Not a mark on it

"...pattern would be..." Crap is being polite. It'd have great big holes in it. Lead is never going to bother steel though.
"...At 5 yards you might scare a charging bear..." You'd never get a shot off anyway. Yogi can cover 100 yards in less than 6 seconds.

If prepared you can wait till he's on top of you before you pull the trigger. But I can personally vouch for a 6 second bear and that's with a 600 gr slug slammed thru him. They can move
