All I have is a keltec sub 2000. What is the rifle to get these days? non restricted please. I do like that you can get more rounds in these rifles with the pistol mags.

That's all I got for now and it is no way a comprehensive and completely accurate list, but I hope it helps. I will say though, while I have not shot every rifle on the list they should all prove reliable and decent shooters, some better then others.

I would add the Bushmaster ACR to the category above when you can convert it to calibers like 30 AR, 450 Bushmaster, 50 Beowulf, etc.
 
Not quite black, but a CSA, or 958 upon arrival, VZ 58 model would also be fantastic.

Questar also has the FS2000 bullpup.

M305 of either type, can be had on the EE or by the sponsors for a screaming deal.

That said, a type 97 with upper (minimum) would probably get my vote.
 
It honestly depends on your budget. If it's high (3k range) and want NR, go Tavor. If you don't care about restricted status, get a nice AR for half the price of a Tavor and spend the extra money on upgrades/ ammo.

I know some people like the t97, but in the end, it's a poor design. Bad mag release, bad safety, bad optics options. It may be robust, but it has too many flaws.

What is your budget?
 
Honestly, I am not sure where to place my vote. It all depends on your budget too, but I would strongly look at going the route of either a Tavor or ACR w/ Non-restricted conversion, or a Modern Hunter if you can accept the wait times and cost of the build you want.
