I think I may have ruined a good scope. I was given an older Bushnell Buckhorn scope. While cleaning a few years of gunk and sticky stuff off of it I unscrewed what I thought was the focus ring, I wasn't paying close attention to what I was doing, it was the entire back part of the scope, there was a hiss and I realized that I actually screwed the end out too far. My question is, did I ruin the scope? I know the scope isn't worth much anymore but it would make a better one on my 10-22 then the Tasco that's on it.

That hiss you heard was nitrogen gas which prevents internal fogging.

Not sure how much it cost to get it redone, especially since its an inexpensive scope. You can always send it back to Bushnell and play dumb and say it always fogs up, fix it under warranty please. They may just think its a bad gasket and fix it or send you a new one. I had this happen to a Bushnell Trophy and they sent me a new Elite to replace it.
