Good evening,

On a Boyds Walnut M14 stock, I require to fill the cut out area to retain the Op rod spring guide pin.

What product will best adhere to Walnut, JB weld? other 2 part epoxy?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

I had a chunk of mahogany from some other project, cut a piece to fit and glued it in with a glue gun since i couldn't find my epoxy at the time, and it's been like that ever since.

If your Boyds stock is an M1A then you may not even need to do the mod.
Mine holds the pin in just fine.
I talked to Hungry about this, I was under the impression that any after market for the 305 had to be modded but this is not the case.
Have you installed the stock on the rifle, flipped it over with the mag off and actually tried sliding the pin all the way over with a nail to try and get the the op rod spring guide to come loose?
I tried and she is not moving anywhere, the metal stock sleeve sharp bends prevent it from moving at all. So no need to do the mod in my case.
I put a Boyds unfiished M1A on my Norc 2007 M305 which I sanded and BLO stained myself, she looks sweeeeeet! :D

I used to do these mods, I no longer endorse them. Instead, just have a GI pin installed and don't touch the stock. The part is like $2.50 from Brownells and is really the way to go.

You will have to slightly turn down the shaft to get it to fit a Norinco receiver. I use a lathe but there are other ways to reduce the diameter a couple thou like a drill press and sandpaper.
