Opening a 700 boltface to PPC size

I have never done one... but you will lose the 700 extractor. I believe many have been done using a .308 bolt face and prying the original extractor towards the center to just catch the PPC case... Probably the vast majority have replaced the original 700 extractor with part of the Sako extractor system... weakening the super safe 700 design. As long as you never have a catastrophic case failure you can get away with it. There have been at least one death and several injuries associated with this Sako extractor install on a 700.

If you are set on the PPC case I would choose a different action.

The PT&G route would be easier than altering the Remington bolt - and you have a choice of 2 extractor systems. Both compromise the Remington breeching. Maybe the Mini M-16 less than the Sako, the extractor is pinned in place. And you get a choice of bolt handles, if that matters.

I've been using a modified extractor on a standard bolt face for year with no issues, but I've also removed all of my ejector plugs so I don't have to chase my expensive lapua brass all over the place

I made one and installed an extractor from a 7600 rem pump gun worked well but wouldn't feed from 308 size short action... Altered a Tikka Extractor on a 308 bolt face that fed from a slightly altered 223 mag.. Tikkas are easy to make work.
