This year I decided to try deer hunting with my Robinson Arms XCR in 6.8 SPC. I topped it with a Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7 and was shooting my handloads with Nosler 110gr Accubonds. I had 4 does milling around in front of the stand this morning (opening day) and after a while got a decent shot on this mature doe. I made a perfect heart shot and dropped her within 75 yards. Pics taken immediately after the kill, however I've included the pic of it tagged once the gentlman with the doe tag got there....

Nicely done! I've been curious to see a 6.8SPC in action - was considering picking up a Ruger Mini-30 in 6.8 but didn't like the cost for what I got.

Took the SKS for a spin today with 154gr Wolf but didn't get a shot off...

The bullet didn't pass completely through, but it made a mess of the heart and broke a rib on each side, coming to rest under the skin. 6.8 isn't a powerhouse round but it did its job....

Well the XCR proved itself again this week. I took this 8 pointer on thursday morning with the 6.8 at around 50 yards. I let him pass as he chased a doe, but when he circled back and I realized how small his rack was compared to his heavy body, I decided to take him out of the breeding pool. There's a huge racked monster on the property that i'd much rather have breeding the does. ;)

This is impossible. Everybody knows these kinds of guns are not duck guns and are not suitable for hunting. It's designed to be spray fired from the hip...with the shoulder thing that goes up, of course.

Nevertheless, congrats on a successful hunt;)

spray fire from the hip is exactly how he was able to get either of the deer lol...kidding. Good work, Im taking my XCR out this week, hope I can put it to work. Its nice to see some modern rifles in the field

What caliber is yours? I was a little disapointed in the 6.8 round as it's rather weak, but it does have enough knockdown power for deer. Proper shot placement helps too....

i started shooting with a .308, then went to a 30-30, then i bought a 7MM (way to big for deer) dam thing blows them up even with a 125 grain shot, went back to my 30-30 this year, refinished a no4mk2 which i think will be my new deer gun, unless i can find a ross sporter:)

You will find the old .303 as about the nicest mannered deer cartridge out there. Not a 400 metre gun consistantly, (it will kill that far) but minimal meat damage and very effective killer. I often recall the moose and deer I shot with the .303 and it was the best deer round I ever used.
