Posting for my dad again:

He bought a Lyman .36 black powder New Navy made by Armi San Paolo. He would like to convert it to a cartridge gun and was wondering whether any of my "internet friends" has any experience with doing that or just experience with this gun in general. Thanks in advance

depends on a bunch of things- in short- get another gun for cartridges- the frame may not be proofed to take the pressure, then you have to find somebody that knows enough to drill through the cylinder and do a proper job of it, etc- even then, it's still a pain to reload - ive got an old army that i recently looked into having converted to 45colt, and that's a simple cylinder conversion, but the cylinder is 250 or more us dollars plus ship plus exchange- then if you do get 1, you have to pull the pin, remove the cylinder , pull the cap off, reload, then replace the cylinder, put the pin back in- in short it's a lot of work for 6 rounds- better off getting something already set up for cartridges- say a 38/357 something or other- i'm leaving my black powder as is
