Im looking for a do all gun 12 gauge for once a week trap in the summer, a round or two a year of sporting clay and a hunting gun.

I can get a new 2018 Cynergy CX with 30 inch barrels and extended chokes or a Citori CXS 30 inch with the extended chokes.

I like the Cynergy for its newer technology. Both fit me well.

Now I also see a Citori 625 Field 28 inch available. I love the old Citori’s.

Any opinions.

Thank you in advance.

have seen few Cynergys with cracked fore stocks. I think this issue has been corrected. If I had to pick one it would be 625, stay with 30 " barrels. Maybe its just me, but shorter barrel guns will cost me targets. The resale is lower too. Shot guns are such a personal thing, they have to shoot were your looking. I went to a higher rib, heads up gun few years back and after a bit of learning curve, I love it. Good luck with your choice

I'm not a big Cynergy fan but if you do go that way, make sure you get the CX and not the synthetic version. The plastic (synthetic) stock is lighter than wood and unbalances the gun badly, especially with 32 inch barrels.

Tough decision between the 625 and CSX but I'd probably opt for the CSX with 30 inch barrels.

I’m not a 12 gauge over under expert but my 30 year old son joined a Trap Club series and the older seasoned experts coached him from his 870 which is sill getting used , into a Citori CX for almost the same reasons of the OP.

Like my son, I will shoot trap once a week and a couple of times when my schedule allows I can go and shoot some sporting clays.

He bought a slightly used Citori CX and has never been happier. I shot this walnut stocked CX at a gravel pit north of Whistler Bc and had a great time. So I went and found myself another CX Laminated Blue Black and I’ve shot it twice now and I’m in love. It balances so well and it’s stout enough to take up a great deal of the recoil even if they are Target Loads.

I’m short, the advice we received from many experienced shooters was to select the Citori and don’t look back, even if the Cynergy design is more modern.

I guess you gotta rock with what works for you and your:

* game
*budget
* intended game
* cool factor
* fondle factor
* future resale considerations

It’s your money and your rig. At the end of the day, only you know if you are pleased!

Cheers, Barney

I’ll second avoiding the 30” synthetic Cynergy, I have a 28” and use it as my do all gun, I had the option to get the 30” but picking it up I found it very front heavy. If the Cynergy appeals to you don’t order one until you can handle one in person. The Woodstock’s model handles nicely with 30” tubes for me atleast.

Well I got neither of the three. Lol. Picked up a really nice Citori Ultra 30 with ports. Decided I don’t want to take any nice over under for waterfowl and to stick with my pump and get a dedicated sporting. Though I’d still take this for pheasant if for some reason I felt the need.
