Opinions of accumounts PU mount

Hi all,

I am considering options for a scope mount for one of my Mosins. I am leaning more toward a PU setup as it is accurate to the rifle, and the mounting holes can be covered by the original stock should I ever want to go back that way. Accumount makes a PU setup with 1" split rings. A bit expensive, but the advantage is that on the same base I could use a modern scope, and I could buy the additional mount if I wanted to ever put a PU scope on it. Does anybody here have any experience with Accumounts products and service? And how well does this mounting system hold zero?

I have not got the money to buy yet ... but am working towards it. My goal is to have my Archangel stocked Mosin M44 set up before hunting season. I tried it in the new stock yesterday. Man what a difference that stock makes!! It is still hitting to the right, and I could not seem to get the front sight to drift over with the small hammer and punch I had at the range. And I had to have the rear sight set at 400 to get it hitting remotely close to the middle of the paper elevation wise. (I have removed the bayonet. I wonder if this accounts for the elevation issues). But after all that, the best I did was a five shot group with 6" between the top one and the bottom one, but the three in the middle were all touching one another! That was at 100 meters with open sights off sandbags.

Anyway, my goal is to have a scoped rifle where I can still use the open sights if I want to. So the PU system seems to be the best option in terms of function. But I have absolutely no experience with them and seek the advice of those who have.

Mine works great, good way to run modern optics on your mosin sniper , i only bought the mount cause my rifle already has a PU base . heres some pics

These must have been made for 56mm objectives, and some Russian scopes have them! You could cut 1/2 or more out of the middle and use the two slots to line up the pieces. Cut off a couple of chunks of 5/8" or so shaft to fit exactly within the grooves and use them to line it up when shortened. Silver soldering probably best for joining the two halves.

Man, it sure looks high. But it is going on an Archangel stock, so I have the adjustable riser. No problem using the opens sights I am guessing! Does it hold zero?

It sits just as high as a standard 3.5x PU scope and even with the bent sniper style bolt handle on my rifle it does not leave much clearance , could not put it much lower without the bolt handle hitting the scope when you open it , true to russian doctrine it leaves room for the use of iron sights , i use a cheek riser that straps on the buttstock works well .What are your plans for your bolt handle? thats the main issue when mounting a scope on a mosin , cant use a straight bolt unless you use a scout optics setup. .

I am making a bent handle out of a 5/16 bolt. I drilled and tapped the bolt body, and (after seeking the advice of a welder friend) I will be trying red loctite to secure it in. I figure it is worth a try. And if it does not work, I can always go to cross pinning, soldering, or welding. Once I get it done, I will put some pics up.
