As a fan of the Remington 870 shotgun, it will always be my first choice for a tactical shotty. However, it seems like Remington has really jumped on the "tactical" bandwagon - obviously a great marketing tool - that said, just wondering if there are fellow gunnutz who have had any first hand experience with any of the new models?
I owned an original "marine magnum" back in the day and liked it a lot, but now lean more toward a matte black/parked tac shotgun.
I just sold an Express "Home Defender" with factory mag extension which gave it a 7 round capacity. I really liked the heft and feel of this shotgun and had intended to use it as the basis for a build, but my interests changed.
For my birthday I'm thinking about asking for a new tac 870.
I'm thinking that I want to stick with the 18" barrel length that the "home defender" sported. This time around I think I want a set of ghost ring sights. I like the simplicity of the Wilson Combat, but something about the winged XS ghost ring rear sights and rifle type front sights with tritium really appeal to me.
If I go the XS route, I either need a shotgun that has a dovetailed ramped front sight, or I'll have to get one soldered on. That means refinishing the barrel. Are there factory options available in Canada?
I've already got a new Speedfeed IV-S stock set waiting for a new home, Wilson Combat safety button and sling plate. Just have to decide where to put 'em!
Feel free to jump in with your opinons and any pics of your Remmys or any suggestions you might have model wise!
