Opinions on B&L Balvar scopes?(1990s)

I just picked up a NIB Bausch and Lomb Balvar 6-24x40 AO scope and was wondering what everyone thought of them. It is gloss with duplex reticle. I owned a couple over the years and thought they were pretty good but can't remember as it has been a while. Are they on par with a Vari X III of the same era you think? Was the B&L Elite the same scope or an improvement on the Balvar? Also, what are they worth these days? I paid a little over $400Good buy or bad? Thanks.

Well they are great scopes for the money, back in the day. However new Tech. is making the same scope better these days, with advanced lens coatings, side focus, ect.
I wouldn't say you got ripped, but you are at a high price for an older piece.
What rifle do you plan to use it on? FS
