Opinions on Barska SKS Scope and Mount

If so, please do yourself a favor and don't buy it. It's just a straight top cover mount. Pretty much garbage. You'd be better off with a bunch of duct tape. It won't hold solid and you will have shifting zero.
IMO the best sks scope mount it the Choate Drill and tap. This one:
Otherwise, these ones (scout scope mount) seem to be OK but you have to remove them to clean the gas system....

I have to agree, stay away from the cover mounts. Some people have had success with the cover mount but most of the time they will only frustrate you. I have used the Choate drill and tap mount as well as the Scoutscopes non drill and tap, they are both excellent mounts but I found one better. It is call a Weaver Converta Mount. It requires some fabrication but it wins hands down over the other mounts.
Who's selling this Choate mount in Canada?
Do you need a shell deflector with this sort of mount?

Sorry I'm not sure.
You would if you used a scope long enough to get hit by the ejecting brass. Generally, most red dot scopes would be fine to use as they are short enough to be well clear of any ejecting brass.
