I have picked some up at p&d,the 405 grain 45-70 tlg. They shoot very well out of my marlin. The box says hard cast.has anyone tried these for hunting purposes, not sure if they would be too brittle if a big bone was hit or not.Very uniform looking bullets and as I say the accuracy is great.

I shoot their 45acp 200gr swc, very accurate! I like them alot

405gr is a big bullet carrying alot of energy! I don't think it would be a problem hunting with them, even hitting a big bone should knock a deer sized animal on its a$$

As in the other post on Excel bullets....i would put MT Chambers hand cast bullets against any of these machine cast bullets any time, your choice of alloy, dia., design, similar costs, used and tested by real shooters and hunters, each bullet ind. insp.

Curious what charges of what powder you are using for the bullet barn 405 grain tlg bullets. I just got some and am loading for a marlin GS.

Thanks

Norm

I'm a hard time loading down enough with the tlg's such that they won't lead the barrel. At 1700fps through a 32" barrel, there is noticable lead streaking near the muzzle.

Still, they're cheap and locally available so I don't have to pay shipping on a box of lead ($$$). Good plinkers.

I use them in my Highwall and I a pretty impressed with their accuracy - I can only do slightly better with my home cast LEE 405's and only if I weigh and sort every bullet within +/- 1 grain. I am however only driving them at about 1300 fps (25.5 grs SR 4759).

But as the manufacturer of MT Chambers bullets, you would say that, wouldn't you? :p (I don't doubt their quality, but yours can hardly be an unbiased opinion! Just razzin' ya, Ben, but it's a valld point.)

No...my point is that machine cast bullets are a comprimize between what works for the shooter/hunter and what doesn't tie up the machine. Bullets designed for these machines are designed to drop from the mould without fail, this means a bullet with few lube grooves, no sharp edges, bevel bases, etc. Hunters/shooters looking for good accuracy and performance are better served with bullets designed for the S H O O T E R! Shooters may also want to use bullets that are used and tested by their maker, BP cartridge shooters may want softer bullets with BP lube or their guns make cake up.

Bullet Barn bullets are about the best casts I have used; very consistent in weight and sized diameter. I really like the beveled base designs, makes seating a breeze, even with out mouth belling.

I have emailed the bullet barn a few times in the last few days but no replys.

They are probably setting up to do the Gun Show in Calgary this weekend.

That's likely the reason for no reply.

Their products are excellent. Shot loads of their 9MM and .45acp
boolits. Cast my own now from WW. Soft lube makes all the difference in the world. Make my own using "Felix" lube. Best darn lube around bar none. Use it in 30-06 to 9MM. No leading at all.

Take Care

Bob

Good customer service at TBB too, in my experience. Quick answers to my emails, fast shipping. But I am tending towards Frontiers now for Glock 9mm and .44Mag purposes...
