I was looking at one of the Bushnell Scout 1000 rangefinders with ARC the other day. I would not be shooting past 300 yards at deer or coyotes and I was thinking of using it for archery hunting from a tree stand too. The thing is I want to be able to range the coyote or deer, and not some hard surface nearby. I was a bit concerned over the unlit display, but the salesperson was telling me it would not be a problem (guy looked like he had never been any further than his back yard in the outdoors so I took it with a grain of salt). The price was good, but I do not want to waste my money either if I am better off waiting and getting something better. Any help is appreciated.

I have had one for three years now and have had no probs yet glass still clear and I use it for target practice at long ranges and for deer and turkey hunting at short ranges.

They say 350 for deer sized targets and I read somwhere they woul actually work to 300. In saying that, nobody had said how they worked on coyotes. The thing is that I can get one of these for $240 new, the G 1300 series are over $400. If I should wait and get the more ex#####ve one, I will, but the scout seems like a really good deal.

I have zero knowledge on those, but yotes are pretty small compared to deer.. I know I couldn't sleep right after buying something that "almost" does what I want :D

Fair enough; I think I will leave it there.

Does anyone have a recommendation for what I want it for? I do not want to be spending too much, but I want something I will be happy with.
