Hey all, I'm going deer hunting for the first time and I'm not sure if I want to buy a dedicated slug gun just yet. While I was browsing slug guns I impulse bought a box of Challenger Magnum slugs. The box says that it's good with all chokes. Has anyone used these and or have an opinion? I will not be making any shots in excess of 70 yards.

I bought a box and put them through my 870 supermag. I used a mod choke and they seemed to get decent groups at 50 yards. I see no reason they shouldn't be fine at 75 yards. Take them to the range and try them out. A mod or IC choke would probably work best.

Thy work quite well in most guys s and can he shot threw any choke.even s full choke .best way to tell how your gun will pattern them is to shoot a few groups at 30 yards ..Dutch

I like them a lot..... I use them in my 870 tac with a skeet choke, work great. Hit a deer last season with one at 30 yards in the lung area and it passed right through clean deer dropped 25 yards later. I sight in with Winchester cheap slugs once I'm close with those I throw a few challengers to make the final adjustments. I'm confident out to 100 yards with my setup.

I like the challenger slugs. Thy work well in most shotguns .one thing that really helps is some kind of sight added to the gun. You can get some that clamp on the vent rib.thy make a big difference. Dutch

They're quite accurate and perform much better than a typical foster. They're almost on a Brenneke level.

I got rotwell slugs which are pretty similar. They are my go-to slug. With the right choke I'm sure you can get 4" groups at 75. I got 6-8" groups at 50, but I was using a bead.

Have not had good luck with them through rifled slug barrels even though they say you can shoot them in smooth and rifled.

I have used them for years out of a rifled barrel 870. 50yds on paper they are usually touching each other, out past 75yds they drop off quickly. Have taken many deer with them, they are a hard slug with little to no deformation.
