Just starting to research for a scope for my rem 700 sps...
Everyone seems to have night forces, bushnells, vortex etc...
Not a whole lot of Carl zeiss... I saw a few the other day and they seem pretty damn nice and very clear...
Just wanting some opinions I guess, as I am a precision rifle noob lol
Opinions muchly appreciated!
No rude comments plz thnx guys!

Zeiss is good stuff, nobody would fault you for going that direction. I`m considering a Conquest 3-9, Leupold is a good choice as well. I have one Vortex not a high end model but it works well on my 243. Haven`t bought a Bushnell for some time and haven`t been overly impressed with the newer stuff. Can`t comment on Night Force, some of this stuff can and will cost a lot more than a Rem sps, it all depends on budget and your demands in glass quality.

Scopes are an interesting topic and plenty of bandwidth gets consumed. Remember that everyones eyes are different and therefore their views on various scopes will differ.

Speaking about scopes I own or have owned, for pure value:

Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40, this scope is amazing for the money, no it's not a Diavari but it is pretty darn good for clarity and low light use. I just picked one up last fall and love it.

Bushnell Elite 4200, very good performance for the money. I had one on my 416 Rigby and it held up just fine.

Just a minute while I put my flamesuit on...

I prefer both of these to Leupold's up to and including VX3's. I have several Leupold's and for the money there is better value out there. My 2.5-8x36 VX3 does not perform as well in low light or clarity as either of the two mentioned above.

I have two Nightforce scopes they are very good but apart from the 2.5-10x32 and the 1-4 they are a bulky heavy scope for a carry rig. Having said that I will take a long look at getting another 2.5-10x32, great hunting scope.

I just bought a Sightron SIII 8-32x56 with a mil dot reticle. It was about $1000 from hirsch precision. It's got great clarity and .1 mil windage and elevation adjustments that are tracking very nicely.

I would recommend this scope to anyone who is interested in long range shooting.

When I started as a newb I bought a bushnell 4200 2.5-10x50. The scope is great but it has a duplex reticle (no distance striations) and no windage or elevation adjustment so after about 300 yards it gets hard to figure out where to holdover.

Good luck with your search for the perfect scope.

Wowzers you guys is awesome!
Thanx a bunch my friends, I really appreciate the help and the comments!
Looks like I got more researching and some more scope hunting to do lol

Was looking around the $1000 price range, I'm really liking the zeiss...
Very clear, I don't have to wear my opticals when I look through it haha
But the search shall go on!
