Opinions on Magpul QD sling mount vs paraclip, and preferred sling model?

I thought I could just leave my M&P15 as it came from the factory, but once I googled Magpul products, I couldn't look away. Oh the modularity!

I grabbed the SL handguard, and SL grip, and cannot recommend them enough. For anyone considering the SL grip for a S&W, I can tell you that on my M&P15 Sport II there is zero gap between the beavertail and lower as has been reported with some of the other Magpul grips. The SL stock is on it's way from TNA as well (awesome dealer).

Anyways, since the SL stock comes with an integrated QD socket, I'm looking for a sling attachment point for the front end. I had to remove the sling swivel for the SL handguard. What are your opinons on going QD mount vs paraclip mount on the front end? Any pros or cons to either which might not be obvious to an AR newb? Are the Magpul MS3 and MS4 the most popular slings? Pretty pricey. Are there any other good quality options?

Anyone happen to have pics of the grey MS sling on an all black AR? I'm kind of stuck between grey and black, but can't see them in person first. Not much is coming up on Google either.

Thanks!

QD mounts are more practical, especially if you hope to switch your sling between rifles, as QD sockets have become almost ubiquitous when it comes to AR furniture. As for colours, black never goes out of style.

I've put QD on ALL my long guns... Easier to buy a few nice slings and be able to easily move them to whichever firearm I'm using.

I'm a fan of the Magpul MS4 myself. Switched to them after they beat out my Vickers 221 as I found the Magpul easier to use and more comfortable. The Slingsters do look interesting, but I've not handled one yet.

I run magpul ms4 and qd receiver plates on my 3 ar15 and my 102 and I love this setup. Hard hunting or active range days never give me any problems. If never had one fail and it gives you a tone of options when a stock with qd points are used.

I too have the M&P15 Sport II and have fitted the SL hand guard with the Magpul QD M-LOK (MAG606) for a forward sling mount. It is smaller than it appears and works very well, it is low profile when the sling is detached and shouldn’t really snag on anything. My OEM hand guard had a small bit of rotation but the Magpul SL eliminated that completely. Next up will be the stock as it is quite loose as most of them are, LOL.

Originally I bought the MS1 for my shotgun but in hindsight, the MS3 or MS4 is a slightly better deal when one factors in the two QD swivels. I also swapped out the grip on the M&P15 with the MOE K2+, I prefer the angle of the K2 series and the fit is very good, hardly a gap at the beaver tail and from the side view not noticeable.

Thanks for all the information and suggestions. Dual DQ was my original plan, and I'll probably stick with it. The MAG606 was what I had in mind for the same reasons you mentioned Wester. Nice low profile, plus there don't seem to be many other options. The Slingsters do look pretty cool. I'll have to look into them a bit more.

Wester, in case you were considering the SL stock, I just received mine tonight. Very impressed with it. Snug fit with zero play, and feels great. Definitely lives up to the hype.

Thanks. Ordered it today, LOL. FYI, I went with Coyote colour for the sling, black and tan looks sweet.
