Opinions on my build and paint job. updated with target

The rifle is a rem 700p in .308 win
stock is an Accuracy international 1.5
rings and base are Ken Farrell, base is 10moa
scope is a Nightforce 3.5-15x56 NXS with NP R1 reticle
Bipod is a Harris
paint is Duracoat coyote brown on all metal and AI skins are painted with krylon
So far the only thing that has been done is a trigger job. I have been planning to have it re-barreled and blue printed but it shoots really well as is so I keep putting it off. When I do have it re-barreled I am thinking of going with a 20" but I am not sure if that is a wise choice for the ranges I shoot (out to 1000yrds) if anyone has experience with this I would like to hear your recommendation. Thanks.

This is where I used to do my long range shooting the target is out there at 1000yds but cant quite see it. Tree line is about 1400yds

This group was one of the better ones at 5" a little luck involved but the rifle will usually be under MOA if I do my part. Distance was 1000yds shot from a bipod and wind was pretty calm.

Can understand not painting the NF. Great job and attention to detail. Should buck the elements very well. Glad to see you chose the flat look, shiny=Bad.

1000 yard shooting may fare better with the longer tube. Suit the tool to the purpose!The 308 will go 5000 rounds or more...so if it shoots, shoot it! Now we just need to see how it shoots:)

I am interested in this as well. I have a barrel already on order, #10 contour that i am thinking of going 20". The way shooting longer ranges with a 20" barrel was explained to me, going from supersonic to transonic to subsonic, it is all just drag. You get a supersonic BC for your round of choice and a subsonic BC. Find the point at which the bullet drops below supersonic in your current conditions, any farther range than that, use the subsonic BC.
 
I am not seeing the build. All I see is a remington 700P, with optics, placed into a new stock.
The rifle looks nice but I would have painted the stock tan too. I am never a fan of camo on any rifle.
 
I think your paint job is very nicely done. Honest first impression was that the rifle barrel and action look weird in the stock. I think it's because the barrel and action colour aren't close enough to the tan colour in the stock. It could just be the way it looks in the pictures though.

Great job paint job. You definitely got some skills.
 
Jeromeo its a build in progress I never said i was done. Read the post it says I am planning to put a barrel on it and have it blueprinted eventually. I do agree though that the camo pattern on the stock doesn't quite match the duracoat even though it turned out pretty nice, I may try something else there.

Don't let the "Martha Stewart" design police discourage you. Pick the colors you like and ignore the criticism. A twenty inch barrel in 308 will do 1000 yds. Had a nineteen inch that shot very good at 1000 yds.

Have a Rem 600 308 with an 18.5" factory barrel that is going to a one mile shoot. At my age the stupid things never tried list is quite short.

I don't mind the look. Personally I stick with rattle can paint jobs. Cheap, and easily corrected or changed.:)
