Hi,

My brother and I shoot some very casual trap at a couple of friends' properties. I don't like the idea of polluting their land with lead, but most shops don't have much selection for 20ga steel loads. Is it worth reloading 20ga steel vs just being stuck with the 1 option the shop has? Do you guys just live with scattering lead all over the property?

I'm actually more concerned with all the plastic litter from wads on my own property. I've started loading my casual training loads with fiber wads recently. They are completely biodegradable and are hardly noticeable before they're gone.

Steel shot is not allowed on the trap and skeet fields at our club.

Same as mine, but thats a club setting, rather than the OP shooting on his friends land.

Personally I couldn't imagine paying the premium for steel shot to bust some clays. I would assume reloading would be cheaper so I'd go that route if I had to, assuming the savings is worth it.

I don't think I could afford to shoot steel shot for trap! I wouldn't be concerned unless you shoot tonnes there. Maybe there's a concern if there is surface water there and/or the land is used for grazing animals?
