I am looking at buying the Stag Arms 2R Carbine w/Flip up sight from Arms East.

Any opinions, or things I should know?

Also good place to get some .223 for a decent price.

Good product and terrific service. I purchased a new bolt from them and it was at my door the same week.

Stag makes a quality AR , sorry but there really isnt any descent prices on .223 and even worse on 5.56

does anyone know it stag ARs prefer any specific type of ammo. I have other semi auto rifles that only work proper on steel case ammo. But then again, they are old.

I have bought several STAG AR's from Walter at ARMSEAST. All have been top notch, highly recommended. As for ammo, I have tried all sorts of ammo from factory to surplus and its eaten it all.

I have had quite a number of Stags from AEI. They have all been excellent guns. They are accurate, well made, have excellent finish work and are very easy to build on, the quality control is fantastic. The little features like perfectly matched M4 ramps, taper pinned and F marked FSB are nice touches for the Kool-Aid drinkers. My USA gun is a Stag and I suspect it will be my primary, it has as nice a "feel" as my 6920/21 and looks far more pretty. They really don't need much, just ammo. If you are still not convinced here are a few pics. The SureFire Hider is to get it to legal USA length, the KAC just doesn't cut it without a bit of work. 14.5" M4 1/7".

Good value for a good rifle. I have thousands of rounds through mine (this year) and love it.
I placed third overall with my Elcan topped 4R at the 2009 BCRA service rifle championship. To be honest if they let me I would be running it here in Ottawa.

Keep in mind that everyone will promote what they are running as the only way to go, just look at the swiss arms guys.

yeah you are right. I cannot be taken off the AR course tho. Has been my goal since I was 5.
I just dont want to overpay for a COLT or Bushmaster if there is a good product for 500 less.

I also bought one from AEI. 5.56 1 in 7, 14.5in barrel. Great rifle, Great guy to deal with, just bad on comms. Loves the 69 grn Fed match and 75 grn Hornady TAP.

Yup. I dunno what supplies are like right now but several months back I couldn't find them for love or money - they were back ordere out the wazoo and nobody around here could lay hands on them for at least a month. I ended up buying the Bushmaster because of it. Between you, me and the out house - I think the Stag is probably a better gun. The finish on them is 1st rate.

If somebody has the model you want and it is in stock - put some money down on it to take it off the market if all you are doing is waiting on permits.
