Opinions on the CZ O/U Shotguns

I have one of the CZ Bobwhites. It's a 20ga SxS. I am quite pleased with it overall and would expect the O/Us to be at the same level of quality.

My only thought would be that one could buy a used shotgun of better quality for not much more money.

Brian the ones we have sold @ P&D in the past have all ways been well recieved. The fit and finnish is quite acceptable for a gun in this price level. The only other gun that I have seen that I think is compareable is the Yildiz also manufactured in Turkey. These guns tend to come with nicer wood than the CZ product. A step down in price and fit and finnish is the Mossberg O/U which retail for around $650.00. A good all purpose product for the price point. FS

The CZ's are made by a company called HUGLU. In europe they are very well received but they usually have a lot of scroll work and engraving. you can see the euro product here: http://www.huglu.com.tr/HGLENG//index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 But i am a fan of the North American guns as well. they are a good blue and the fit is nice. they are not going to be the kind of gun that lasts forever if you shoot trap, skeet or sporting clays because of how many rounds the top shooters shoot but it would be good for the occaisional sporting clays shoot and hunting no problem. I wish the wood was nicer as they are made in turkey and the best walnut is there but for the price I think they are a great buy.

I personally think these are beautiful guns. I considered the purchase of one several months back, in early Spring. I handled both O/U and SxS models. Unfortunatly, they didn't fit me as well as I had hoped. I considered having the stock bent for me, but went another route all together. With the O/U, I was looking down the sides of the barrels, and with the SxS, I looked down on top of them. Though I'm convinced these are a fine shotgun, and may be in the market to try a couple on again. It would be a shame to let these slip on by while their still affordable. If they fit, grab one up.

I got a chance to see some of the Yildiz (O/U and SxS) line this past weekend and a gunshow. I was impressed with the fit and finish. Also the wood was nicer than that on my CZ. I would have bought one of those instead if I had seen them side by side.

"Grouser" here on CGN sells them.

I was wondering what was the other route you went? To look down the sides of the barrels when shouldering a double gun is a very strange fit indeed. What did you find in an off the shelf gun that actually fit you?

If your seeing down the side of the barrels, the gun most definetly does not fit you. When shouldering any shotgun your eye should be over the rib - in fact you should not be looking at the rib or barrels. If the gun fits you should only see the target -- pull the trigger - bang, dead bird/dead clay. If you see the rib/barrel you will shurely miss a flying target. You aim a rifle and point a shotgun.
Cheers!

the only other thing that could be causing you to see down the side of the barrel is eye dominance. ensure that you know which is which and then if that doesn't explain it then it is not fitting you or you aren't mounting it properly. plain and simple.
