Hello,

I have noticed that SFRC has a few Girsan 1911's in stock (45 ACP).

For those who have one, what are your experiences with them? Some YouTube video reviews appear to have mixed feelings, from "amazing for the money and very reliable" to "doesn't feed reliably and needs a lot of tuning". Many reviews are for the 9mm Luger version though.

Also, how is the quality of the internal / external parts?

.

I did a ton of research and I settled on a Girsan because I can't get my hands on a Springfield Garrison. I still haven't received it, but a 1911 in hand (eventually) I thought was better than no 1911. Shoot in one hand, and wish in the other. And for the price, seems like a reasonable gamble.

Also did a ton of research on the AF, they look super cool, but saw some really negative reviews that steered me away from it. Plus the fact that it's almost twice the price.

Arms East has a Standard Manufacturing, but it didn't look interesting enough to move the needle for me. Especially considering its $1800.

But if a Garrison pops up tomorrow... SOLD!

I've read some pretty mixed reviews on that brand too.

I'm about halfway to buying a Girsan, I'll probably hold out for a Colt/Springfield/Ruger for another month or so.

Cool, thanks for the feedback everyone!

I have the Girsan MC1911S on order. I figure that there probably won't be a better one for a reasonable price anyway any time soon. I always wanted one, but just never got around to it with all the cool and interesting NR offerings available (since registration = confiscation). Now is the time to get whatever is still available for a decent price and quality.

My research on CGN also indicated that the Norincos are by far the best bang for the buck, with machined frames and other parts like the high end / high dollar models. Reliable too, apparently. Unfortunately they're "sold out" everywhere... and probably won't be restocked before the LIEberal guillotine falls on legal handgun ownership, because of partisan politics.

You gotta hand it to The Turd, though : he's one hell of a handgun salesman!

Before the freeze I owned 0 handguns. Now I own 4. Data doesn't lie.

I don't have a Girsan 1911 but I do have a Canuck, which is another Turkish 1911 by Tisas. It's not terrible, the finish is decent. I have put around 100 rounds thru it and had no issues. The slide feels a little gritty, and the trigger is not as crips as could be and some of the parts are out of spec but all of those issuse can be addressed pretty easily.
I think the Girsan should be fine. Their Beretta clones are pretty solid, and a 1911 in hand is better than no 1911.

I have a Girsan Commander in 9mm. I have owned Colts, and still own 2 2 STI's.
The Girsan is a good 1911. It needed a really good cleaning out of the box. It was dripping with oil. Once clean the trigger was one of the best out of the box 1911 triggers I have ever felt. I ran 500 rounds through it and had one FTF.
Then I stripped it to the frame. Polished the feed ramp. Gave it a detailed clean.
It has run perfectly ever since. I have about 4000 rounds through it now.
My only complaint it the non-standard grip bushings and screws.
Hope that helps,
Cheers

Wow, thanks for the feedback fellas! It certainly puts my mind at ease. I realize that some of the negative reviews might be from competitors, so it's kind of hard to know who to trust in this day and age... kind of like the reports of most Amazon reviews being fake (sponsored).

The one sad thing is that if I really like the 1911 platform, I will most likely never get a chance to upgrade to a high end model... like one of them machined "long slide" 1911's with fancy sights.

:(

Just another reminder how bad Trudope sucks and how bad he needs to be booted out next election!

According to the reviews I've read from US owners on other forums / platforms, the Tisas are pretty much on par with the Girsans. Some of them speculated that perhaps they even come out of the same factory, with a different name stamping (like many Turkish and Chinese guns do). If yours were different in quality and finish, is it possible that you owned different generations?

I haven't owned either, so can't comment myself... but that's the comments I've read. The owners of those guns were amazed at how much value (quality) you get with these Turkish guns for $450-500 USD, as they were used to much higher end 1911s. Some of these guys said to have put thousands of rounds down range with very few problems, if any. Some have said to have switched their more expensive carry 1911's to a Girsan.

Anyway, seems like a solid purchase either way. Thanks for the feedback!
