I am looking to set up my AR for CQB shooting, and I am at the point of deciding on optics. My original plan was to go with Aimpoint (T-1 Micro or CompM2), but I am hearing more and more about people buying the Vortex SPARC.

Can anyone offer their reviews/thoughts/opinions on the Vortex SPARC?

Also, could any of the more knowledgeable CQB shooters offer any other comparable suggestions for CQB optics?

Thank you.

SPARC is a compact 1x sight that offers a few new cool options. you can get a doubler and now I believe you can get a flip away mount that slides a 3x magnifier in behind the Sparc to give you magnification, or simply flip it to the side for no magnification. Putting one on a 44 magnum as soon as the base arrives.

Bonus about the Sparc is that it comes with 3 bases letting you customize how high it mounts on your platform

I have the sparc and love it. I beleive it came with 4 different height mounts and one specific for AR co-witness. It comes with a 2x magnifier and there is a flip up for $159 the last time I checked, for 3x magnification. I have not had any problems with mine. One Shot Tactical carries the Sparc and the magnifier I was looking at it the last time I was in there.

I just got mine today. I'm not impressed with the "dot" - it's more like a spark than a dot. Even with lowest brightness setting there's a lot of flare. The features are impressive but I prefer the clarity of the dot even in Tasco's $40 rimfire reddot sight.

Do other's have the same indistinct "dot"?

Have you tried it outside? I don't have a sparc but I've got a few ultradot's (nice) and sometimes I see it flared (inside usually and at night with lights on) but when I'm outside shooting it never bothers me.
I think I may have mild astigmatism as well but it really doesn't bother me when it comes to actually shooting with red dots.

I have to agree with the previous post - once outside, the flare disappears... Sparc is a great little optic, I had one on my PS90 for a bit, then went back to the Factory Ring Sight... Sparc is on my SKS now...:D
