Opinions on Walther pistols and if this is a good deal.

I don't have experience with the steel frame, but I can say that the PPQ m1 is the most accurate striker fired pistol I have shot. very clean trigger break. I also like the paddle mag release on the m1 vs the pushbutton on the m2. bit different to get used to but allows to drop mags without shifting grip for a small-fingered carnie like myself

Its a superior 9mm with an outstanding trigger. Its premium priced but it can achieve what you are lokking for.

It only uses proprietary Walther mags & specific holsters that would obviously drive up your costs.

For that kinda coin I might default to the CZ Shadow2 or the new Dan Wesson CZ hybrid DWM.

Is DW single action ? It's not production division, if that is matter.

I was at a local dealer the other day and playing around with a Shadow 2. They are very nice. I like the DW CZ hybrid. Just checked it out and I'm also looking for a 1911... Maybe I just get that and have the best of both worlds in one gun. Thanks for the suggestions.

Not true ref your comment on the mags. Canik TP9 standard mags fit just fine. They do stick out a bit though, as shown in this thread:

At Tenda's price, it's a good deal. I got mine when SFRC had them on sale for about the same price. The gun is very accurate, the factory grip is surprisingly grippy and the checkering is well done. Though if you have XL hands you may find the grip size too short for your liking and using Walther's own mag may pinch you, again a problem easily solved by using Canik TP9 mags. Shooting 147grn bullet at 900fps muzzle velocity makes it a very very soft shooter.

I picked it over the Shadow 2 because even though I have larger hands and the Shadow 2's grip length fits my hand better, but the Shadow 2 is too narrow for me, and the sudden transition of the grip angle just doesn't feel right in my hand. The overall width and contour of the Q5 SF fit my hand better, I'm just waiting for LOK grip to come out with a set of palm swell bogies for the Q5 SF to bring it to perfection in terms of fit. If you wear medium-sized gloves, this gun should fit right out of the box.

The trigger gets better as soon as you switch out the mainspring for a lighter one, and it is very easy to DIY. Shooting a few hundred rounds through it also helps, initially you will see some metal finish flaking from the recoil spring, but that will go away.

It is a fantastic pistol. Obviously if it fits your hand well then the rest is a no brainer. It seems I overpaid for mine. Mine is bone stock and It shoots like a laser. I have two cons: trigger has come creep. The trigger guard could have se a larger undercut.

The Pro model needs the aluminum base pads it come with, the base model uses common mags.
